Winter Conditioning Is Almost Here!
Updated: Jan 7
The holidays bring the quiet season for Noank Rowing Club. It is a time when we take a break from rowing to spend time with loved ones, rest, and recharge. But our two-month hiatus is nearing its end as coaches get ready for the year 2020 and all the exciting things in store for our high school athletes and our adult members. It all starts with Winter Conditioning!
High School Athletes
We have 2 different classes for our youth rowers depending on their goals:
Junior Racers Winter Conditioning is for 8-12th graders who intend to compete with the Junior Racers this spring. We will be working on improving our strength and cardiovascular fitness in preparation for the 2k race distance in the spring. Excellent attendance is expected. This class meets Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30 - 5pm.
Winter Conditioning for All Ages is for ages 12+. This class meets twice per week and works on improving all areas of fitness. Coaches meet each participant at their level and help all athletes work to improve their skills and can be tailored to meet individual goals. This is also a great option for high school rowers who are involved in other school activities that interfere with Junior Racers Conditioning or who participate in another winter sport but would like some rowing-specific conditioning. This class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 - 6:30pm.
Our adult members (or friends of the club) are encouraged to sign up for Winter Conditioning for All Ages. Rowing experience is helpful, but not necessary. Experienced rowers know that rowing is a full-body workout that is very low-impact, making it a great cross-training option for runners, cyclists, and other fitness enthusiasts. Winter Conditioning is a great time for our members to build endurance and have some fun while we wait for spring! This class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 - 6:30pm.
All classes take place in the Fitch High School field house by the football field.
Registration is now open on Regatta Central for our winter classes. Sign up today to save your spot!
