Fall Class Update!
Updated: Aug 7, 2020
Can you believe it is already August?!
The fall season is fast approaching, but just like with most other aspects of life, there are some changes this fall due to COVID-19. We are optimistic that we will still be able to have youth rowing classes and group rowing opportunities for our masters rowers this fall in a safe way.
Here is a list of a couple key changes to our fall youth season:
Classes will be smaller in size. Participants will be limited to rowing in singles and doubles.
Classes will run in 3-week sessions. Registration will open for the next session the week prior (assuming it is safe to continue rowing).
We will continue to follow state and USRowing guidelines for safe rowing, based on maintaining social distance and monitoring the local infection rate.
High school athletes new to rowing are still welcome! We will be offering a small Youth Intro to Rowing class--sign up early to get your spot.
For high school rowers that are new to our club, please contact Coach Allie with your rowing experience so that we can determine the best class placement for you. If you've rowed a complete season, but you've never rowed in a single scull, we recommend that you take our Novice Scullers class to get comfortable sculling. It will skip over the basics but get you familiar with rowing in a single.
As you can imagine, most regattas have been cancelled for the fall. As a result, we will not be having a Junior Racers competitive season. That being said, experienced scullers who want to row 4 days a week may sign up for both Youth Experienced Rowers classes.
If any local regattas do happen and any youth or masters rowers are interested in attending, we will try to make that happen!
We hope to see you on the water soon!
